Luxaviation Celebrates 60th Anniversary in Private Aviation

Luxaviation’s story began in 1964 with the founding of Abelag by Belgian entrepreneur André Ganshof van der Meersch. His vision introduced Europe to modern private aviation with the creation of the continent’s first VIP terminal. On the 60th anniversary, Luxaviation, now with its headquarters in Luxembourg, celebrates a significant milestone in the private aviation and luxury travel industry.

Over the years, Luxaviation’s commitment to operational excellence transformed it from a small, regional operator into a global leader. This anniversary celebrates 60 years of heritage and underscores Luxaviation’s legacy of luxury travel and innovation in business aviation, a legacy that continues to thrive today.

Luxaviation’s 60-Year Journey in Private Aviation – A Legacy of Excellence

The Birth of a Vision

Our journey over the past six decades has been characterised by a relentless pursuit of excellence. From our modest beginnings as a regional operator to our current status as a global leader in business aviation and best aircraft management company, Luxaviation has remained committed to delivering the highest standards of luxury, safety, and innovation. Each phase of our growth has strengthened our global footprint, enabling us to serve our clients with unparalleled service across six continents. Today, our global activities are proudly run from our Luxembourg headquarters in the heart of Europe.

The Exponential Growth

Luxaviation's rapid growth in business aviation started with strategic acquisitions. In 2011, the group acquired FairJets, which secured its position in the German market and laid the foundation for future expansion. In 2013, Luxaviation expanded further by acquiring Abelag in Belgium and Unijet in France, boosting its operations in Europe. Each company brought unique strengths and established client bases, allowing Luxaviation to offer a wide range of services across key markets.

The most significant leap came in 2015 when Luxaviation acquired ExecuJet. The acquisition transformed Luxaviation into the second-largest business jet operator globally with a presence in key locations (Africa, Asia-Pacific, Europe, Middle East
& the Americas). ExecuJet’s international platform allowed Luxaviation to achieve global reach, further cementing its position as a leader in the industry.

Building on its momentum, Luxaviation continued its growth strategy with the recent acquisition of Paragon Aviation Group, a network renowned for its high standards in FBO services and global reach. This acquisition adds over 140 locations to Luxaviation's expanding FBO network.

Luxaviation recently expanded its portfolio with the acquisition of La Fugue. The Paris-based travel agency was renowned for creating exclusive cultural and artistic experiences entered around art, culture, music, and opera. With La Fugue now part of its portfolio, Luxaviation integrates exclusive travel experiences into its extensive aviation network. This strategic move enhances Luxaviation's position as a leader in the global luxury travel sector.
