Of La Serenissima’s many treasures, La Ca’ d’Oro (the house of gold) is one of the city’s most dazzling palaces. Equally remarkable, Palazzo Contarini del Bovolo is best known for its famous spiral staircase. The superb Palazzo Venier dei Leoni, on the other hand, houses a magnificent modern art collection.
At Teatro La Fenice, an iconic temple of the opera, you will see a production of Turandot to mark the 100th anniversary of Puccini’s death. The cruel princess of China will be played by Uruguayan soprano Maria José Siri, while Fabio Sartori paints a sensitive portrait of Calaf. Commended by the Italian press, the stage design by Cécilia Ligero is a feast for the eyes.
