The Helsinki Biennial is a beacon for contemporary art, transforming the picturesque Vallisaari Island and the vibrant city of Helsinki into a dynamic stage for artistic expression. The upcoming 2025 edition, curated by the distinguished Blanca de la Torre and Kati Kivinen, promises to elevate the biennial’s mission of promoting ambitious international contemporary art. Their vision will undoubtedly bring fresh insights and innovative approaches to the exhibition, encouraging dialogue between Finnish artists and their international counterparts. This collaboration aims to create a vibrant tapestry of artistic narratives that reflect diverse cultures and experiences, enriching the cultural fabric of Helsinki. As the biennial evolves, it continues to expand its reach and impact through a comprehensive program. The Helsinki Biennial 2025 will take place on Vallisaari Island, in Esplanadi Park in the heart of Helsinki, and at HAM Helsinki Art Museum. A total of just over 30 artists or artist groups from around the world will be included, with a particular focus on South America and Northern Europe. Around half of the artists will present new commissions or site-specific works. This multifaceted approach not only broadens the audience’s exposure to contemporary art but also creates a lasting impression that extends beyond the event itself.
