Industry Sustainability
The future of the aviation industry is based on a non-linear trajectory that follows a dynamic and progressive path. Core components already drive this pivotal transition, forming the very foundation of Luxaviation's Go-to-Zero strategy. Transforming a fossil-fuel-dependent industry into a sustainable one demands radical change. At Luxaviation, we are committed to driving this change, leading the way for industry sustainability.
Leading the Way in Industry Sustainability and Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) Operations
Since Luxaviation's foray into the Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) ecosystem in 2019, the Group has established strategic partnerships with industry leaders such as Embraer Eve, and Ascendance Flight Technology. In the first quarter of 2022, we proudly announced our groundbreaking collaboration with Rolls-Royce, a pivotal step towards pioneering the development and deployment of AAM solutions. Rolls-Royce's unparalleled expertise in electrification solutions, maintenance support services, and digital solutions are pivotal in realising our vision for a network of vertiports.
Our shared commitment to the sustainable aviation industry drives the advancement of AAM solutions, including all-electric and hybrid-electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft, and the support for the eCTOL category. These partnerships for a sustainable industry, enriched with extensive experience in new vehicle deployment and associated challenges, focus on three critical areas:
- Maintenance provision for electric aircraft;
- Charging and energy infrastructure for vertiports;
- Digital solutions for various applications across the AAM landscape.
Sigma Air Mobility
In November 2022, Luxaviation took a significant step towards decarbonising aviation by establishing Sigma Air Mobility, a dedicated air mobility company. Sigma Air Mobility is vigorously enhancing existing partnerships and forging new alliances with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and ecosystem partners. Their goal is to develop innovative operating concepts and facilitate the early deployment of the latest hybrid-electric, fully electric, and hydrogen-powered vehicles across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia and within the Luxaviation Group.
This long-term initiative underscores Luxaviation's commitment to fostering a sustainable aviation industry.
The aviation industry's path towards sustainability and decarbonisation is complex and demands ambitious yet realistic goals. While electrification is crucial in this transition, the industry also recognises the importance of complementary energy sources, such as hydrogen, opening new segments. Embracing this structural shift presents a formidable challenge, but through collaborative efforts, the aviation sector can seize this opportunity to enhance aviation industry sustainability.
Christophe Lapierre, CEO of Sigma Air Mobility, states, "Our concept prioritises agility and continual evolution to scale up Advanced Air Mobility operations in sync with technology and regulatory developments and market demands." By advancing sustainable air travel and integrating sustainable industry practices, Luxaviation and Sigma Air Mobility are leading the charge toward a greener future for the aviation sector.
